Squarespace’s Super Bowl ad that starred John Malkovich earned the company the 2017 Outstanding Commercial Award. The award was presented during the recent annual Creative Arts Emmy’s, which was held in Los Angeles.
The ad, which was created by JohnXHannes and directed by Miles Jay, shows Malkovich trying to reclaim his domain name from the owner who isn’t so famous.
The award-winning ad was just one of the many unique marketing gigs Squarespace came up with. It recently unveiled its in-house campaign that includes various brands named Atlas and others to show how the platform assists companies and individuals to become unique and noticed.
The top spot came from a nominee who had no socially-conscious viewpoint to share. Other category contenders included “Why I March,” highlighting the Women’s March; the “We Are America,” which starred John Cena; the “Valentine’s Day “Kiss Cam”” from the Ad Council and the “Year in Search” for 2016 from Google.
